Mordak’s Skeleton Legion
Erik Mordacai was once young squire of a minor kingdom nestled in a valley north of the Mountains of Mourning. Although a small kingdom, it was wealthy, and its people lived in an unusual abundance for the time due to the rich soils suitable for agriculture and minerals.
But such a kingdom is not without its troubles, to the south, perched on a rocky spur of one of the peaks that make up the Mountains of Mourning stood a dark tower, and within that dark tower resided the infamous Necromancer Gert Fleishgeier.
From time to time the Necromancer would send his minions forth to attack the kingdom, dragging back slaves and fresh victims for Gert’s experiments. On one of these raids, one such victim was Erik’s betrothed. Filled with a righteous fury Erik donned his sire’s armour, pretending to be him, he rallied his sire’s men at arms and marched towards the Necromancer’s tower.
Neither Erik or any Men At Arms were ever seen alive again.
But legend has it that Erik and the Men At Arms fought their way to the very base of the tower, defeating all manner of undead horrors sent to block them on the forest road, and there Erik demanded Gert come forth and release those taken. It is told that indeed Gert did come forth and before him went Erik’s love. In front of all, Erik’s betrothed declared her undying love for the Necromancer, breaking Erik’s heart, before a huge horde of undead tore brave Erik and the Men at Arms apart. Now Erik and his men serve Gert Fleishgeier the Necromancer for all eternity and the remains of his betrothed adorns the banner top of his skeleton legion, a gruesome reminder to any that defy Gert Fleishgeier’s power.
