The issue of taking multiple of the same units in Bot War has always been a tricky issue. There are a few reasons for this that I am not going to get into in depth in this post. But as a summary I see these as the tricky parts – 1. The game uses stat cards and this means that it can get confusing which units are which if they all activate at the same time and all look the same. 2. Spamming a particularly powerful unit can upset the game balance. 3. for the most part units in Bot War are not sold with other identical units.
All of these problems are tricky to manage for sure and its something that really needs a lot of thought in order to get it just right. So I thought I would write a series of blogs about it starting with COILS. COILS is probably the faction with the most spammable units so its a good faction to start on.
Here are a list of units that I think theme wise are spammable –
ABT, Drone Chopper, Attack Chopper, Heavy Chopper, Vyper, Attack Jet, COILS Guards, Blood Guard, Torch Troopers, Crawlers, Tunnellers, ABM, Gun Turret.
For most of these units I see no issue taking multiples with no penalties. However the Attack Chopper, Heavy Chopper, ABM and Attack Jet are certainly very powerful units. For these units the following penalty should apply, first additional unit +1 point, second additional unit, +2 points, third additional unit +4 points, fourth additional unit +8 points, fifth additional unit +16 points.
In regard to unit identification I would recommend either numbers or coloured dots on bases that correspond with the same on the stat card. This way its clear what units are activating etc.
